Mr H. D. Crawford, one of the owners of the Miramar Estate, Wellington, died yesterday morning. Mr D. M. Luckie, Assistant Com* missioner of the Government Liffe. Insurance Department, has retiree? from the Department, under the Su* perannuation Act, states a Pfessi Association telegram. He was wellw known in the earlier days of 1 New Zealand journalism, as editor of fch» "Nelson Colonist," the "New Ze»» land Herald," and the "'Evening Post." He was appointed' Commissioner to the Government Insurance Department in 1879\, that position till 1889, when he* retired owing to ill-healthy but continued in office as Assistant Commissioner. He is nearly 81 years of age.
