Received August 26, 9 a.m. LONDON. August 25. Dr. Verdon, the military service surgeon, who assisted Abdul Aziz to escape after the overthrow of his troops, is a son of the late Sir George Verdon, of Victoria. Sergt. Balding, who also stuck pluckily to the discomfited Sultan, worked the guns after the soldiers had deserted.

Mulai Hafid has decided that Menebhi, ex-Minister of War, who enjoys British protection, would be the best intermediary between himself and the European l J owers. Mulai Hafid has notified the Powers that he will adhere to the Algeciras Agreement. He insists on an inquiry into his predecessor's private debts before paying the Court purveyors' exorbitant bills.
