TOPICAL READING.

THE FISHING SEASON

The trout-fishing season will open in five weeks' time (October Ist), and the Curator of the Fishponds-(Mr J. Millar) is, therefore, busy stocking the rivers with fish. Mr Millar is of opinion that the coming season will be a very favourable one for anglers, as more trout survived the of dried-up strea-ns last season than was generally supposed. In the course of his operations he has seen many fair-sized trout in the rivers to bear evidence of the fact that the drought had not wrought si much havoc with the fish as was believed.
