THE RECENT OLYMPIC GAMES.
AMERICAN ATHLETRS COMPLAIN OF FAVOURITISM. NO SYMPATHY FROM THE PRESIDENT. Received August 19, 8.40 a.m. LONDON, August 18. The "Daily Mail" declares that President Roosevelt has intimated that he has no sympathy with complaints that discrimination was shown against the American athletes who competed in the Olympic games at Shepherd's Bush, but that he is ready to enquire into the matter .personally when the men visit him. Mr Roosevelt is pleased at Carpenter —the well-known American runner, who was disqualified for jostling during the running of the 400 metres (437 yards) flat race—declaring that he was tired of the talk about British antipathy to Yankee athlete 3, for that he had s?en none.
