AMBULANCE DEMONSTRATION

The Masterton Ambulance Division held their final rehearsal in the Town Hall, on Saturday evening, of the programme to be submitted at the demonstration, to-morrow evening. The first aid treatment to be demonstrated will comprise fractured thigh, collarbone, elbow, knee cap, leg, arm and skull; also artificial respiration in three methods , viz., the well-known Sylvesters, Howard and the newest method by Professor Schaffee, of Edinburgh. Arrest of 1 bleeding from varicose veins and wounds in the hand, arm and temple will also b« illustrated. • The ladies' division will include roller bandaging in different styles, bedmaking and changing of sheets as done uy professional nurses. A, large attendance is anticipated, tickets are being freely sold, and seats can be booked at Miss Rive's for the dress circle. Arrangements have been completed for the reception of Lord Plunket at the station. His Excellency will be entertained to afternoon tea in the Arcadia Rooms, Exchange Buildings. Invitation by tickets have been issued to all the leading citizens and members of public bodies, and as a large number of acceptances have been received it is expected that there will be a lax'ge gathering at the welcome. The presentation of certificates will take place at 8 o'clock, when the Mayor will preside, and the Governor will address the meeting as President of St. John Ambulance Association. The demonstration will take place immediately after, and the public generally are assured of an interesting and instructive evening. The proceeds are in aid of District Nurse Fund, which the local brigade have instituted to procure a certificated nurse to act in cases of need in this district.
