A FATAL ACCIDENT.

By Telegraph—Press Association. GREYMOUTH, August 14. A fatal accident of a very distressing nature occurred this morning, when a young man named William Bird, aged 28 years, was run over by a ballast train. The trucks were being loaded on the incline, and when they started to move off the deceased tried to put on the brake, when he slipped., and the wheel went over his legs. He was taken to the hospital, where both legs were amputated. At six o'clock this evening he died . The deceased leaves a wife and two young children.
