TRUST LANDS LEASES.
QUESTION OF LENGTHENING THE TERM.
Mr H. C. Robinson's motion tbpt the Trust leases be made more elasiii to suit various classes of tenants, moved pursuant to notice at the I: s'; meeting of the Trust Lands Trustees, but adjourned for future consideration, come on again at the meeting of the Trustees, last evening. Mr Robinson stated that he did not intend to enlarge upon his motion, which he thought spoke for itself. The Trust had decided, more or less advisedly, to borrow £IO,OOO for a building loan, and in his opinion, judging by the Government experience in< connection with workers' homes, it was doubtful if the Trust could expend the money judiciously. The speaker's idea ■ was to itnj ro /e the Trustees' financial position by matdng its leases more attractive. He suggested ttiat a committee composed of the Chairman (Mr T. B. Michell), C. E. Daniell, O. N. C. Pragnell, R. Krahagen, and the mover, be appointed to report on the matter, and with the Trustees' permission he added this to the motion.
Several Trustees wished Mr Robinson to make his motion dtfinite as regarded the length of time of the term of the lease, but this M* Robinson was not prepared to do. The motion was put by the Chairman with practically no discussion, and carried unanimously. Mr Pragnell, who had tabled a motion that the leases be extended to 42 years, then stated that as he had been elected ,to the committee in Mr Robinson's motion, he would withdraw his, as the whole matter would be suflicientlv reviewed under Mr Robinson's motion.
