MASTERTON WOOL, SKIN AND HIDE SALES.

Messrs Levin and Company, Ltd., : report:—We held our monthly sale of wool, skins, hides, etc., jesterday, offering 50 bales and 30 bags wool. 1,100 sheepskins, 220 hides, and a quantity of' horsehair, tallow, rabbitskins, etc. There was a good attendance of buyers, and compoti- ,■ tion wat> keen at late rates. Prices realised were—Good crutchings, 3fd; medium, 31d to 3|d; rough, 2jjd; fleece, medium crossbred, 5d to 5Jd; dead, to sd; lambs, to fijd. SkinsFine crossbred, 4Jd to sd; medium and coarse, 4d to dead, 3d to 3Jd dead hoggets, 3d to 3|d; lamb ►skins, to 3}d to 4£d; green crossbreds, 3s to 3s 6d each. HidesMedium ox, 3Jd to 4;£d medium cow, 3Jd to 4d; calf, 4d tosjJd; inferior hides, id to 2hd. Tallow—Casks, ~225; barrels, 20s 3d; tins, IDs 3d per cwt. Horsehair, lid per lb. Buyers complain that sheepskins are very carelessly saved and request u\to point out to growers that with tm fall in prices, much greater care is necessary, as it is only well-kept • skins that muet with good demand. The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-Oper-ative Association, Ltd., and Daigety • and Co., Ltd., held their monthly wool, skin and hide sale yesterday. "They report follows:—We offered 20 bales and 50 bags of wool, 1,200 sheepskins, and 300 hides. There was the usual attendance of buyers and bidding was fairly animated, all wool idealising the prices of the vendors. The prices of skins and hides were on a par with those of our last sale. We quote:—Wool—Fleece, sd; fleece, seedy und dirgy, 3£d to 32d; crutchings, SJd to 3Jd; crutchings, seedy, 3d to 3sd; locks, damp, 2d to 2sd; dead wool, 4 : ? d; dead, seedy, 3d. Skins—Crossbred, 4d to 4Jd per lb; crossbred, dead and broken, Sd to crossbred, damp, 3a 8d; green, 3s Id each; hoggets, 4d; dead, 3Jd; green, 2s lid each. Hides —Cow, 3Jd to 3§d; cow, slippy and cut, 2Jd to 3Jd; yearling, cut, 3Jd to SJci; ox, 4Jd to 4§d; ox, cut, 3gcl to 3-Jd; heifers, 3Jd; calf, 5d to ogd; ■ caif, cut, 3Jd. Our next sale will be held on Wednesday, 23rd September.
