STOCK MARKET.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report:—At Pahiatua, on Tuesday, all classes of stock came forward. Best lines in ewes in lamb, wethers and hoggets found a ready Rale, the culled sorts only meeting with dull sales. At Masterton, yesterday, entries were not numerous, but the quality was mostly good,which enabled us to make a clearance, rates all through having an upward tendency. No fat in either ewes or wethers were penned. At Pahiatua best ewes in lamb, up to 14s; others, 12s 4d; medium, 9s to 10s 4d; best hoggets, 10s; others, 8s 9d, Bs, 7s, 6s 6d. A few pens of cattle were yarded, but prices were about on a par with previous sales. At Masterton, yesterday, ewes in lamb were only medium, selling at 9s 4d to lis 6d. A line of extra good hoggets, woolly, made the satisfactory figure of 12s; good hoggets, 10s; second-class, 7s lid to Bs. A small pen of fat maiden heifers made £5 each. Best dairy cows, £4 to £5. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows:—We held our fortnightly sale at our Masterton yards yesterday. Stock came forward in excess of advertised numbers, and practically the whole yarding was sold under the hammer. We quote: — 2 and 4-tooth wethers 14s to 15s 3d, f.f.m. ewes in lamb 9s to lis, good-conditioned hoggets 9s 3d to 10s, backward hoggets 7s 9d to 8s 4d. Cattle were rather dull. Springing cows made £2 10s to £4 12s 6d, fat cows £4 10s to £5 14s, !2J>-year steers £3 18s to £4 ss, 18-month heifers 28s.
