The North Canterbury Education Board is apparently not enamoured of the miniature rifle as a means of training the young idea how to shoot. A report from the Normal School and Technical Committee was read at a meeting on Wednesday last, in which it was stated that in regard to an offer by the Education Department to supply a few miniature rifles to the students, it had neen'decided to reply that, in the opinion of the Board, it was very difficult for thejstudents to spare the necessary time and for the Board to find suitable accommodation; and, further, Jthat the Board had some doubt as ;.to the practical utility of training in shooting with the miniature rifle.
