UNEMPLOYED IN GISBORNE.
By Telegraph—PriES Association. GISBORNE, August 10. It being alleged that there were scores of men in Gisborne out of work, after discussion, the following motion was passed by the Labour Council to-day:—"That tha East Coast Trades and Labour Council takes exception to the Labour Department importing labour to th s district whilst there are several ljctw unemployed unabsorbed." The secretary was instructed to send copies of the resolution to the Minister of Labour and the Secratary for Labour. A "Times" representative made enquiries to-day at the Labour Bureau and ascertained that in the last fourteen days there have bee.i fifty-four names registered. Twentyfour have been found employment on Government works and seven have been sent to private employers, the remainder being single men with no pressing necessity tor work. Of the contingent which arrived by the Wimmera on Saturday, on'y seven have so far put in an appeaiance at the railway constructicn - works.
