PETITIONING TO BE DECLARED BANKRUPT.

Received August 10, 9.35 p.m. NEW YORK, August 10. Hany Thaw is petitioning to be declared a bankrupt. He asserts that after paying his legal retainers £IOO,OOO, they now claim another £90,000. He estimates his assets ?t £5,000.

Harry Thaw was charged with the murder of Standford White, a millionaire, in Madison Square Gardens, New York. White had made insulting references to hi 3 wife, who was formerly an actre&s. The trial caused a great sensation, and especially the evidence given by Mrs Thaw. Thaw was eventually declared to be insane when he committed the murder, and was confined to an asylum.
