HOCKEY.

WELLINGTON v. WAIRARAPA. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 9. The Wellington-Wairarapa representative hockey match was played on Saturiay, and resulted in a win for Wellington bv five goals to three. There was too much individual play, both sides suffering from want of combination. The game was a very interesting one, and was keenly contested. The teams were evenly matched, and it was only towards the end of the game that Wellington obtained the upper hand. At half-time the score was two goals each, and in the second spell Wellington scored two goals to Wairarapa's one. Minett (2) and Pulsford scored the goals for Wairarapa.

A Carterton resident has donated a challenge cup for competition amongst junior hockey teams in Wairarapa, the first competition to be held next season.
