Th<3 death occurred in Wellington, on Friday last, of Mr J. Denison, who was at ma time on the railway staff at Eketaliuna, and was a prominent member of the Masonic lodge theiv. A widow and one child are left to mourn their loss. The Rev. Edward Walker, travelling representative of the British and Foreign Bible Society, will leave Mast'.n-to.i to-morrow for Greytown. On Wednesday and Thursday he will visit Martinborough, and on Friday Featherston. The funeral of the hitc Victor Hulmes took place yett- rday at the Masterton Cemetery. The cortege included several members of the Mastenon Fire Brigade The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. J. N. Buttle.

At the Bazaar in connection^with St. Mark'd Church. Carterton on Saturday evening, a presentation was made to the Choirmaster, Mr J. J. Mead. Mr G, W Dtller, on behalf of the Choir, handed to Mr Mead a handsomi si'vec - nvjunte ! baton. M-: Mead „suitably acknowledged the gift. News has been received in Napier by cable of the death at Sydney of Mr Jamil Hay, chief draughtsman of the local Lands Office, after a lingering illness. The deceased was born in Southland, where tie joined the Civil Service, and he was sub sequently Stationed in various parts of the Dominion.
