LONDON WOOL SALES.
Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., received the following cablegram from their London agents, regarding the July sales, which have just terminated:— "Merinos generally closed firm on a par with opening rates. Continental buyers are operating freely. Fine crosabreds closed at a decline of 5 per cmt. on opening dates, with bidding slow. Medium and coarse crossbreds closed on par.with opening rates; American buyers • operating freely. Tendency is downwards, as reports would indicate that trade is quiet in the manufacturing districts." Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd , Wellington, have received the following cable message from their London House, under date of the Ist instant: ' —The wool sales have cloied. Competition throughout was fairly animated. Super Merino wools, prices are on a par with closing rates of May series. Short faulty scoured merino wools, unchanged. Prices for other descriptions are on the average higher asunder as compared with closing rates of last series:—Good atKkmedium Merino wools, 8 per cent ; greasy inferior merino wools, 5 psr cent.; scoured good and medium Merino wools at par to 5 per cent.; tins crossbred wools at par to 5 per cant.; good bright greasy medium crossbred wools (when bought for America), 10 per cent.; other medium and coarse crossbred Wools, UII" Out of the net quantity a/aiiabie for sale (276,000 bales)' 102,000 bales have been sold for Hjme consumption, 76,000 bales for tne Continent, 10,000 bales for America, leaving 88,000 bales to be carried forward to the next series (September), of which 80,000 bales were not offered for sale.
