MONTHLY MEETING.

Mr* J. Mackenzie, Commissioner Crown Lands, presided over the monthly meeting of the Wellington Land Board on Thursday. Messrs A. Reese, J. Dawson, J. M. A'Court, and C. J. Canton were also present. The following applications for freabold titles were approved on the usual conditions:—S. McCullough; section 25, block 6, Mount Cerberus, F. and A. C. Herbert; seciion 27, block 5, Mount Cerberus, M. A. Herbert; section 24, block 6, Mount Cerberus, F. and A. C. Herbert; section 1, block 4, Puketoi, A. J. Patchett; section 4, block 13, Makuri, G.W. Ross; lot 10 of section 4 (14), Ohinewairua, Isabella D. Barsby. Applications were received from Messrs H. D. McKenzie and C. Reaves for the issue of the freehold tides of section 17, block 11, Makuri, and section 89, Pahiatua Village Settlement respectively. Mr J. B. F. Sutherland was appointed as valua tot* In each case. Approval on the customary conditions was given to the following s.io-lease:—Section 5, block 11, Mangahao, W. F. Field to H. A. Prebble. Mr E. J. Whyte applied to transfer section 13, 'block 4, *Tararua, lo Mr R Kenny. The Commissioner repjrtsd that Mr Whyte had not carried out his undertaking and taken u t > his residence on the section, which he had only held for one month, and the request was declined. Mr M. W. Donovan applied io transfer section 39, block 10, Kai-tiw-i, to Mr H Bond. The Commissioner reported that promissory notes to the value of £6B had be t n issued to the lessee, and it was resol/ed to approve the transfer on payment erf this sum. Approval was given to Mr D. Beckett'3 application to transfer sections 11 and 12, block 10, Kaitawa, to Mrs A riallinger, provided thj residential conditions were found to have bean complied with. Mr L. Johansen applied to transfer section 35, block 5, Mt Cerberus, to Mr F. Wyeth.—•3*he request was granted, the Commissioner and Mr Dawson dissenting. it.was resolved to grant Mr R. F. ffciii a license to occupy section 46, blojx 2, from year to year under section 116 of the Land Act. 1892, at a rental of £l, 3a per ainurn, subject to three months' notice of determination and. to the usjal conditions. \ ft was resolved to offer sections 7 and 8. Ngaturi Village, for cash byr public auction at an upset price J of £lO each lot. A report was- to hand from the Crown lands ranger on Mr A Johnston's application to select an additional area of Crown lauds adjoining his holding, section 5, block 11, Miki Miki, and it was decided to approve of an area' of about 80 acres being allotted on O.R.P conditions, under section 114 of the Land Act, 1892, at a price of £1 per acre. Suggestions were received from the Crown lands ranger as to dealing with section 2, bhec 13, Tararua, and it was resolved *o offer the land for selection in terms of part 3 of the Land Act; 1892, at a price of £1 per acre, the improvements being reduced to nil. The ranger al3o reported on sec ■ tion 1, block 13, Tararau, recently allotted to Mr J. H. S. Magee, who now deairjd to relinquish it. Ths Board resolved to allow him to withdraw his application and to return his deposit. Mr J. A. Mcbougall applied for an extension of tirrie to build and reside on section 7, block 8, Haurangi (Dyer Settlement) owing to the road being unfit to cart timber over. -- A ifceselred to advise him that the District Koad Engineer reported that .Road was fit for carting over the fine weather, but it would cut" it up to do so now. He would therefore be given till November Ist to commence the erection of his building. A report was received from the Crown lands ranger on Mr G. J. Carter's application for remission of rental on sections 21, etc., block 10, Kaitawa, owing to his having met with an accident and also suffered losses by fire, etc. It was Joffc to the Commissioner to make further inquiries.
