HOCKEY.
GARRY OWEN v. PAHIATUA
A match was playej at Lansdowne yesterday afternoon belv, the Garry Owen and Pahiatua teams. The match was an interesting one, and good hockey was shown by both sides. Garry Owen hr.d considerably the best of the first spell, and scored three goals, while Pahiatua failed to snore. In the second spell Pahiatua played better hockey and kept Carry Owen busily defending for the grtuter part of the spell. They were, however, only able to score one goal. The de~ ftnee of the home team was excellent, Misses O'Toole, Collins, Chapman, Coyle, F. Duggan and Frost doing good work in staving off the determined attacks o F the visiting team. The game eventually ended in a win for Garry Owen by 3 goals to 1. For Garry Owen, Misae3 N. Coyle, K. O'Leary (who played a splendid game), and Frost scored goals, and Miss Allen hit the Pahiatua goal. Mr B. lveson was referee. The visitors were afterwards entertained at afternoon tea.
