HOCKEY.
SEVEN A-SIDE TOURNAMENT.
The seven-aside tournament under the auspices of the Wairarapa Hockey Association was commenced at Lansdowne yesterday, but owing to the length of some of the games was not concluded. The following were the results yesterday:FIRST ROUND. W.F.C.A. Cbeat W.F.C.A. B by 1 goal to nil. Home scored for the winners. Knox beat Y.M.C.A. by 1 goal to nil. J. Wing hit the goal for Knox. W.F.C.A. A beat Carterton C, by 1 goal to nil. Minett scored for the former. Carterton Av. Tui. This was a j capital game, and was keenly contest-, ed. The play was very fast and so good was the defence on both sides that it took over an hour to decide the game. In fact, aa there seemed no prospect of either team scoring the goal necessary to win, it was decided that two corner hits should count as a goal to the team securing them. Eventually, however, Reid shot a goal for Carterton, and ended the game. SECOND ROUND. Knox beat w'.F.C. A. C by 1 goal to nil. Loader scored for Knox. It ia probable that the concluding games will be held at Carterton at an early date, and that arrangements will be made for the presentation of the badges at Carterton.
