A. AND P. ASSOCIATION MATTERS.

Th 3 annual meeting of the Masterton A. and P. Association, yesterday, typified fully'the nsw spirit of progress which has animated the Association of late. The incoming committee is a strong body of men, embracing in its ranks the brains of o.;r commercial and pastoral interests. The new President (Mr D. McGregor, juir.) 5s one of the youngest members to hold such a responsiole office, but he is recognised not only as ona of the Valley's best farmers, but also as possessing business ability of a high order. The two vice-President 3 are also gentlemen whose merits and abi'ity are so well-known in tho district that it is unnecessary to dw<dl upon them, and the Association is indeed fortunate in having at the head of its affairs three such capable officials. The outgoing President (Mr J. D. Cruickshank) retires full of honours, the past year having seen stirring time 3, and to his tac*-, ability, and untiring energy a great deal of tho success of the work of the Association during the past year is due. "Solway year" will always ba associated with the late President's name. The various committees worked with a unanimity that made for a successful yea'-, and though there is—as members piedicted yesterday a hard r twelve-months ahead, next year must see, if the present enthusiasm continues, another an ni:U repjrfc glowing with pleasurable facts. The statement of Mr J. McGrogor, that although £!,000 had b.'en donated by members towards fie Sdway fund, another £I,OOO would be forthcoming, if necessa-y, from the same source, is just one of those indications of how g.-nuine is the enthusiasm of members. It pouts bsyond reasliable doubt to the conclusion, th it given tho hearty support of townspeople, Mast?rton will boast in the future a Show equal to the best in the Don i don.
