ROTORUA MAORI ENTERTAINERS.
The Rotorua Maori Entertainers will appear in the Town Hall on Friday and Saturday nights. A contemporary says of the Company:— "Under the careful training of teachers from Australia, they have for some time undergone a complete course of training in part singing and stage deportment, and now present a programme to the audience which is replete with musical gems, and a host of novelties never seen on the New Zealand stage. Apart from the wild hakas of the men, the dainty pois of the attractive girls, and the clever.and amusing plantation songa of the full company, their part singing of unaccompanied quartettes, male and female, stamp the company as being musicians of exceptional merit, and furnish a lesson which their fairer brothers and sisters would do well to imitate. The programme includes the poetic Maori love story of Hineir.oa and Tutanekai which is presented in a series of tableaux, for which special scenery and dresses have been prepared. The object of the tour is not for any personal gain, but to raise money for the Maori missions throughout New Zealand.
