CONNELLY PERJURY CASE.
* BY TELKOHAPH—PEEBS ASSOCIATION. 'WESTPORT, July 27. The hearing of the Connelly case was resumed to-ilay. Dr. Simpson Was lengthily examined in regard to the wounds, and stated that the whole three wounds coull have been inflicted by a blunt instrument, 1 and two of them by a knife. Winifred Harcourt, a barmaid, adhered to her former statement that she saw Halinen and Anderson in the hotel before the fish shop row. and Halinen then had blood on hia hands and coat sleeve Elizabeth Ayres and Mary Bowring, proprietiess and barmaid, respectively, of Ayres' Hotel, denied that Connelly had a bottle at the hotel when leaving with Bourke. Altix. Lennie said he saw stains on Halinen s ( coat before the fish shop rpw, but he would not swear they were blood stains, and could not say the men did not return to the hotel after the row. J. Steward said that Halinen and Anderson were at the City Hotel on Friday night. This was denied by Frances Mclntyre, who also saw Anderson between 6.30 and 7 o'clock on the Saturday morning following the death of Bourke. Bourke came to the hotel and spoke of a fight between Halinen and himself which took place the previous night. She had told Detective Mcllveney that he said one of those in the fight was in the hospital, but she now said she was excited at the time., ' The case was adjourned till tomorrow.
