ADELAIDE, July 25. The thermometer touched freezing point—the lowest record for the city for fifty years.
BEAUREPAIKE DEFEATED. LONDON, July 24. H. Taylor (England) beat Beaurepaire (Victoria) by thirty yards in the semi-final of the 1,500 metres (1,639.5 yards) swimming race, in 22min 54sec. Received July 27, 12.41 a.m. ' LONDON, July 26. In the final of the 1,500 metres swimming, Taylor finished four yards ahead of Battersby, who defeated Beaurepaire by a yard. They swam shoulder to shoulder throughout the race.
