Mr G. S. W. Dalrymple is still t lying in a very critical conditior. £ Mr A. J. Reading, who has for J many years followed farming pursuits at Kaiparoro, has sold his farm [ there, and has decided to reside in ' Masterton. ' Mr M. G. Nasmilh, for the past . nineteni years secretary of the Gisborne Racing Club, has resigned his position owing to pressure of other business. Miss Irene M. Beehan, second daughter of the Hon. W. Beehan, M L.C., was married at Hastings on Thursday to Mr H. P. Stratton, son of the late Mr John Stratton, of London. / The death is reported from Dunedin of Sergt.-Major M* Donald, who went out to South Africa as a member of the first contingent and was chosen as one of the members of the volunteer contingent which represented New Zealand at the Queen's Jubilee. The deceased succumoed at Port Chalmers to an attack of pleurisy and pneumonia. A pleasant function took place on Saturday afternoon, when Mr A. J. Minifie, who is leaving Masterton for a few months, on account of his health, was presented by his employees with a handsome silvtr mounted dressing case, suitably ergraved. Mr J. Ward, in a short speech, referred to Mr Minifie as being one of the best and kindest employers ho and the other employees had worked for in the course of a number of years, Mr Minifie being always willing to advise or help his men. Mr Ward wished him a pleasant sojourn and a safe return. Mr Minifie suitably replied.
