The match between VVairarapa and South Canterbury was played to-day at Temuka in splendid weather. About 700 spectators were present. South Canterbury won by 11 points to 6 points. O'Leary kicked a good goal from a mark for Wairarapa, and also scored a try, which he failed to convert,
For South Canterbury, Carlton kicked a splendid goal from a mark, and also scored a good try near the post through N. McKp.nzie (full-back) mulling the ball. Spillane converted the try. Robinson scored a try from a forward rush, but Carlton failed with the kick.
South Canterbury won the toss and played with the sun behind them. The Wairarapa forwards had the best of the game in the first spell, but in the second spell honours were even. In the tight play and in the loose rushes VVairarapa were superior to the home team. South Canterbury always hooked the bail in the scrums. Brenchley played a great ga:ne, his following up, tackling and dribbling being splendid. C. Ross, R. McKei:zie and Henderson also being prominent.
Adams got his backs goina: well several times in the first spell from loose scrums, but Groube (centre) lost several good opportunities through mulling the ball. Aiams, O'Leary. Darvill and N. McKenzie were the pick of the backs. Jury was good in defence. The Suuth Canterbury backs, although always getting the ball, were very weak in attack, never getting dangerous. The first spall ended with the score:—South Canterbury, 8 points; Wairarapa, 6 points. Wir.ea injured his knee in the second spell, having to leave the field. Mason took his place. Of the South Canterbury forwards Scott and Carlton were prominent; Scutt especially. Mr White, of Dunedin, was referee. The Wairarapa team were entertained at dinner to-night at the Club Hotel by the South Canterbury Union, and leave for Dunedin tomorrow. BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. NEW PLYMOUTH, July 23. The manager of the team (Mr G. Hartneil) said they hoped to put a strong side in the field against New Zealand for the third test match op Saturday.

The New South Wales Rugby Union has decided that'members who signed the League form, but have not played or received any remuneration, have not thereby sacrificed their amateur status.
An interesting match was played on Mr Donald McKenzie's property, at Wangaehu, yesterday, between the Wangaehu and BideforJ teams, ar.d resulted in a win for the former by 9 points (2 tries and a penalty goal) to nil. Wangaehu had the best of the game. Mr S. Matthews was a capable referee. The following foam will represent the Y M.C.A, Association Football Club in a match against the Masterton Association Club, to-morrow afternoon;-Miller, Pearce, Hcbenton, Grey, Billington, Miller, King, Palloon, Truscott, Tait, lbbetson. Play will commence at 3.00 o'clock.
