DISEASED RABBITS
Received July 23, 9.25 am. SYDNEY, July 23. Statements were made at a meeting of the Macquarie Shire Council that many rabbits sent to Sydney for consumption were sufferng from hydatids. A councillor declared that he would sooner take a bottle of strychnine than eat a rabbit at the present time, He knew of two raboiters who had contracted the disease. SURPLUS REVENUE ACT.
WRIT ISSUED AGAINST FED ERAL GOVERNMENT.

The State Government has issued a writ against the Federal Government to test the validity of the Surplus Revenue Act. The State Government claims a refund of the money which : hould be returned to the State at the end of July.
DEBATE ON A CENSURE MOTION.

The censure debate on the motion of Mr M'Gowan, Lea lor of the Opposition, to the effect that the conduct of the Government in its relations with the Commonwealth had brought ridicule upon the and that such conduct, and also i!s action in making unwarranted and unnecessary appointments to the I legislative Council, merited ths condemnation of the House, is proceeding. The debate is spiritless.

Received July 23, 10.30 a.m. MELBOURNE, July 23. The action against Mr J. C. Williams' nin connection with the production of the "Mother Goose" pantomime has been commenced in the Supreme Court.
The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, Limited, London, as assignees and authors, are proceeding against Mr J. C. Williamson, claiming all profits made in Victoria from the performance of the pantomime "Mother Goose," or, in the alternative, forty shillings for each, and an injunction to restrain further performances.
MURDER AND SUICIDE,

A Japanese cook at a hotel at Townsville shot a young girl named Gallagher, employed in the hotel, and then shot himself dead. He had a quarrel with the girl.a few days ago.
