All through the year the position was danger. us. and a strong party was formed with the object of deposing the Sultan i;; favour of his uncle. The trouble' has continued through this year, and about three weeks ago, after summoning the notables of Teheran to Baghshah, a village Outside the capital, he caused the Reform WiLleddnvleh, Ala-ed dowl .'i:, and Sardar-el-Mansur, to be arrested. He th3n appointed a notorious reactionary named Hadji-ed-dowleh Governor of Teheran. The capital had for some weeks been in a state of panic, and the Shall, foreseeing trouble, has been increasing his forces.
