SWALLOWED UP IN SEA OF MUD.

Two schoolmasters, of Morlaix, France, and the daughter of one of them met with a • horrible death on Sunday, May 31st, being swallowed up in the soil mud in Morlaix Harbour at low tide. With a third schoolmaster they had gone out in a boat, but stayed out too long, and ran ashore on the soft mud. It was getting dark, and as they could not get the boat out of trie mud, they partially undressed, and tried to scramble ashore. Two of the men took the girl between tnem, and the other went on in front. Suddenly he heard loud shrieks for help, and, looking back, he saw the three behind him slowly disappearing in the mud. He tried to help them, but could not, and just as he scrambled on to firm land his unfortunate companions disappeared, the girl uttering one tremendous shriek.
