The sum of £12,983 waa passed through the totalisator, aa against £18,388 for the corresponding day last year. Results: — Glasgow Handicap.—Oxton 1, Duart 2, Yosami 3. Also ran—Maid of Astolat, The Seer, Golden Gate, Wharekaura. Wharekaura jumped round at the'post and took no part in the race.- Oxton and Yosami led to the home turn, when the former ■ cune away and won by three lengths. Time, lmin 8 4-sth sec. Karori HacK Handicap.—Dr Shirnose 1, Vasa 2, North Pole 3. Also started-Spinning Flight, Blue Ribbon, Skye, Campfire, Consuelo. Dr Shimose* led throughout and won all out bj a neck. Time, lmin 34sec. Second Hack Hurdles.—Full Cry 1, Ghoorka 2, Jolly Roger 3. Also ran—Defeat, Snip, Hatiey, Otaroa, Liberator, HOakburne". Won by two lengths. Time, 3min. Wellington Steeplechase.- Nadador 1, Loch Fyne 2, Tilson 3. Also started—Pierre, Bull worth. Tilson led for two miles, where Pierre fell when running prominently. On the last time in passing the stand tne Held was well together with the exception of Bullworth. Nadador took charge six furlongs from home and wen by two lengths, six lengths between second and third. Time, 7niin 36sec. Waterloo Handicap.—California 1, Dawn 2, Maharanui 3. Also started —Seaman, Paragon, Swimming Belt, Tupono, Rangipapa, Merrie Zealand, Chief Lochiel, Kurawaka, Silken Rein. Won by a nose. Time, lmin t —*S"th sec Jumpers' Flat Handicap.—Scotty 1. Letherin 2, Immolation 3. Also started -Exmoor, Aorangi, Star Rose, Sen Sim, Mussel, Monkey Puzzle, Cyrus. Won by six lengths. Time, 2min 54 4-sth sec. Thorndon Hack Handicap.—Silk Web 1, Royal Maid 2, Lochiela 3. Also started—Landwern, Cavatina, Glen. Won by three lengths. Time, lmin 6 2-sth sec.
The second race on the second day at the Marton Jockey Club's meeting in September next, should read Hunters Hurdles (a handicap open to huntersonly). It appears that miscon- ' eeption was likely to arise with regards to this particular race.
FOOTBALLWITH THE WAIRARAPA TEAM. TO-DAY'S MATCH. (By Telegraph—Special Reporter). TIMARU, July 22. The Wairarnpa team arrived at Timaru, yesterday, and are staying at the Club Hotel. The match between the visitors and South Canterbury will be played at Temuka to-morrow. The weather is fine, and the ground in fair order. South Canterbury have a splendid forward team, and a battle of forwards is expected. The game promises to be a very keen one. The following-are the teams:— WAIRARAPA. Full Back: N. A match of considerable importance will be played on the Showgrounds on Saturday next between Red Star and Dalefield juniors. The match will decide the Junior Championship for the season. The following team will represent Red Star Juniors against Dalefield juniors on Saturday:—Full-back, G.
