Daniels, of New York, won the final in 65 3-sth sec, establishing a record, and beating Z. M. de Halmay, of Austria, by a yard. Received July 22, 11.41 a.m. LONDON, July 21. Beaurepaire won his heat in the 1500 metres race. Battersby beat Springfield (the Queensland champion) . HURDLE RACE. LONDON, July 21. the American runner, beat D Murr?y, of Dublin, in the heat of the 400 metres hurdle 3, in 57sec~~an Olympic record.
The American team selected for the games is a very strong one, and the opinion was expressed when the selection was made that America would "scoop the pool" with the exception of the distance evenr,s. The Americans admitted that the distances were not their strong point, and it has been thought that these events would go to English athletes.
