NEW SOUTH WALES POLITICS.
NO-CONFIDENCE MOTION. A FIGHTINU SPEECH. Received July 22, 9.45 a.m. SIDNEY, July 22. Mr M'Gowen, Leader of the Opposition, moved thnt the conduct of the Government in their relations to the Commonwealth had brought ridicule upon the State; and that such conduct, and also their action in making unwarranted and unnecessary appointments to the Legislative Council, merited the condemnation of the House.
Mr Wade, the Premier, in a fighting speech in reply, [claimed that the Government had only done its duty in resisting the Commonwealth encroachments on State rights. He intended acting in conjunction with the other"States, and would issue a writ against the Federal Government for withholding from thd States three-fourths of the revenue for June. He claimed that the Council appointments were necessary to make the chamber reasonably effective. The debate was adjourned.
