Mr J. G. Ball has been appointed to succeed Mr A. Walker as stock agent, in the Eketahuna district, for Messrs Dalgety and Co. Mr Stevenson, chairman of the Taieri Charitable Aid Board, willcontest the Taieri seat at the general election.

Mr James Brown, who has held the pniition of secretary to the Taratahi and Belvedere Dairy Companies for the past twelve and eighteen years, respectively, has resigned, and is sue ceeded by Mr J. J. Mead, of Carterton. Mr Brown is retiring from active business.

Out of twelve applicants for the position of manager of the Belvedere, Dairy Factory, Mr T. P. Saxelby, of JCaituna, Masterton, ha 3 been selected. , Mr Saxelby formerly was for eight years manager of the Taratahi Dairy Company. The members of the Masterton Fire Brigade, on Monday evening, made a presentation of a silver tea service to Mrs T. Fielding, wife of the late custodian of the Fire Brigade Station. Superintendent Jenkins, who made the presentation on behalf of the brigade, referred to the many kindnesses the members had received at the hands of Mrs Fielding. The recipient suitably acknowledged the presentation.

The members of St. Patrick's . Choir met at the residence of the Very Rev. Dean McKenna iast evening to bid farewell to Miss Kate | Sternpa, who has been a member of i the Choir for some years past, and who is about to take up her residence in Petone. The Very Rev. Dean McK«nna, in presenting Miss Sternpa with a pouvenir, made eulogistic reference to the services she had rendered to the Choir during the time I she had been associated with it. Mr A. R. Bunny, conductor, on behalf of' the Choir, also presented Miss Sternpa with a handsome jewel case, ' as a token of theirjappreciation of ', her valuable services. After spend- } ing a pleasant evening the Choir dis- , persed with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
