Beef—Fores, 213 16d; hinds, 3?d. River Plate sheep— Heavy, 3 3-16 d; light, 3Jd. River Plate beef—Fores, 2£d; hinds, Bsd. Hemp.—Dull. New Zealand JuneAugust, .£26 10s. At the rabhitskin sales 2,340 offered, and 2,140 told. There was strong demand for New Zealand wellfurred at Is 9d Australian, Is 4d to Is 6d.
HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, 18th July, 1908: The mutton market is dull, the supply exceeding the demand North Island mutton is quoted at 3§d. Canterbury at4d, and River Plate at 3Jd per lb. The lamb market is very firm, and there ia a good demand for all brands. New Zealand lamb is quoted nt s|d for Canterbury, and at 5Jd for other than Canterbury brands. The beef market is quiet, with less demand. Hindquarters are quoted at 3gd, and forequarters at 2f d per Jb. The butter market is very firm, with a general and active demand. Th'.ire is no New Zealand butter offering. Danish is quoted at 1225; Siberian, 109s; and Canadian, 116s per cwt. The cheese market is dull, and buyerd are holding back expecting prices to lower. White makes are quoted I at 62-% coloured at 58s per cwt. Toe hemp market is dull. Good fair gradi is quoted at £26 10s; fair grade, £23 10s; fair current Manila, £22; July to September shipments, good fair grade, £26; fair grade, £23 10s. The wool market is firm at the advance, Bradford tops being quoted at Id higher' than last week.
