WAIRARAPA HUNT CLUB.
The Wairarapa Hunt Club held a very suo-dadiui "meet" at Akunv yesterday. The "meet" gtook place at Mr Chas. Molmwood's. The hunters consisted of some of the best horses in the Wairarapa. The country hunted over was all that could be desired, and the horses negotiated the obstacles in good style. There were several new riders, including Mr C. F. Vallance, who rode a good upstanding black horse. Those who took part in the "meet" were as follows:—The master (Mr W. H. Buick), on Dick Turpin; the huntsman (Mr Harold Welch), on Caroline; honorary whip (Mr C. J. Bennett), on Diana; (Mr C. F. Vallance, on Rata; Mr Herbert Welch, on Moonlight; Mr B. Vallance, on Garry; Mr R Buick; on Kiwi; Mr T. McGrath, on Tattoo, Mr H. Douglas, onHaka; Mr A. Watson, on Traylock; Mr P Mason, on Valima; Mr F. Hood, o.i Mounted Rifle; Mr R. Welch, on Gun Metal; Mr J. Floyd, on Jess; Mr J. Scott, on Trustee; Mr N. Douglas, on Ataranga; Mr E. J. Williams, on Prospector; Mr W. D. Watson, on Yeast; Mr J. Douglas, on Robin; Mr W. J. Vernon, onTui; Mr E Pelling, on Lady Kulnine; Mr August Stempa, on Eclipse. After a good run, which consisted of about sixteen fences, a check was made at Mr Robert Buick's house, when light refreshments were served, which were thoroughly appreciated, and brought to a close one of the most enjoyable "meets" ever held on the splendid hunting country belonging to the Messrs Buick Bros. The next "meet" of the Wairarapa Club will be held at Maryborough on Saturday next, to be followed by a "meet" at Ti Nui on July 25th. The committee of the Club hope to see a good attendance of huntsmen at both "meets."
