DEPUTATION TO THE PREMIER. BY TELEGRAPH — PRIMS ASKOOrATION. WELLINGTON, July 16. A deputation of the members interested in securing; a change in the existing relations between the State and the Bank of New 4( Zealand waited upon the Prime Minister to-day to urge that steps should be taken—(l) To increase the States' interest in the Bank; (2) to provide that the State shareholders should share equally with the private shareholders in the profits of the Bank ; (3) and to secure concessions in regard to charges at present imposed on those persons using the Bank. Twenty-five members of the two branches of the Legislaturewere present, and several other members in sympathy with the movement were absent on account of other engagements. Three spe-ikers placed the views of the deputation before the Prime Minister. A representative of the country interests urged that the settlers should be treated with greater liberality by the Bank. The Prime Minister replied that he and o v ther members of the Ministry recognised the importance of the questions involved, and he indicated that he did not support some of the more drasti: proposals that had been made, but that the representations of the members would receive attention. An opportunity might arise to deal with the matter on the floor of the House. The members of the Legislature present at the deputation were the Hons. T. Kelly, J. Barr, J. T. Paul, VV. VV. McCardle, J. E. Jenkinson, and T. Y. Duncan, Sir Wm. Steward, Dr Chappie, and Messrs G. Laurenson, H. G. Ell, C. E. Major, F. R. Flatman, A. VV. Hogg, E. G. Allen, J. Stallworthy, J. A. Hanan, D. Buddo, H. Poland, W. Symes, F. M. B. Fisher, J. P. Arnold, C. H. Poole, J. T. M. Hornsby and J. T. Hog an.
