PERSONAL.

Mr F. Bedford, a member of the Conciliation Board, is at present seriously ill. The Eketahuns Borough Council haa appointed Mr M. Knight, night watchman, ranger and inspector of nuisances for the Borough of Eketahu'na. . The Rev. J. W. Worboys, who died at Opunake on Friday last, was Methodist minister in the Eketahuna district for a numoer of years, and was succeeded by the Rev. Marshall.

The Government Auditor (Mr H. A. Lamb) is at present on a visit to Masterton in connection with, the auditing of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust books. ■ The Rev. S. G. Compton and Mr 3 Compton, of Clareville, will be amongst the passengers for the Old Country by the Corinthic on Thursday. Mr V. O'Neill, of Masterton, severely injured his left shoulder and strained the muscled of the arm through the horse he was riding falling during the "meet" of the Wainrapa hounds on Saturday last. / Writing to a Palmerston North resident, Mr James Stuckey, formerly of Masterton, states that he has been in poor health since he took up his residence in England, and hat; not been able to'visit many of the shows. Of late, however, there has been a great improvement in his condition, and he hopes shortly to be in good health again.

There were two presentations made at the Red Star Football Club's annual social last evening. Mr T. G. Hoar, the Secretary, who has done splendid service for the Club not only in that capacity but as organiser, received a very handsome salver suitably inscribed, in recognition of his efforts on behalf of the Club. Mr B. Iveson, a Vice-President of the Club, was presented with a gentleman's toilet companion, in token of the Club's appreciation of services rendered by him during past seasons. Mr E. Welch, President of the Club, made the presentations, the recipients responding in suitable terms.
