ENCOUNTER WITH A BURGLAR
NEW July 10. An exciting experience befell a British officer who is on a visit to this city. Major Cookson, of the Ist Sussex Regiment, is staying at the Belmont Hotel. In the dead of night, he found an armed burglar in his room, and after a desperate struggle, secured the man, who gave the name of Levine. Levine, who is the son of a wealthy land agent, was tried and sentenced to ten years' imprisonment.
