A TRANSFORMATION CERTAIN

SIR ROBERT HART SPEAKS OUT.

The China Association banqueted Sir Robert Hart, who remarked that China's transition might be prolonged, but a transformation was certain. China was destined to occupy a place in the front rank of nations. Sir Robert added that he hoped Britain's sympathy with and moral support of China would continue.

Sir Robert Hart was for 45 years Inspector-General for the Imperial Maritime Customs of China, and; was altogether 54 years in the service of China.
