ADMIRAL :SCOTT DISOBEYS
A 'SIGNAL
Received July 8, 8.14 a.m
LONDON, July 7
A correspondent has furnished "The Times" with an account of a strange occurrence in connection with the operations of the Channel Fleet last week. Admiral Lord Charles Bcresford, Commander-in-Chief, signalled the cruisers Good Hope and Argyll to perform an evolution which, it it had been obeyed, would have brought the vessels into collision. The Argyll (Captain Reginald Allenby) obeyed the signal, but Admiral Sir Percy Scott, aboard the Good Hope, signalled doubts regarding the accuracy of the signal, and refrained from obeying it.
ADMIRALTY ADVISED TO TAKE ACTION. Received July 8, 9-3 a.m. LONDON, July 7. Many newspapers advise the Admiralty to take a decisive step with regard to Lord Beresford and the naval authorities.
