BRITISH PATENTS ACT.
GERMAN PATENTEES' ANXIOUS
BERLIN, July 3. Herr Bethmarm. Hollweg, German Minister of the Interior, in reply to a patentees' petition, stated that Sir Edward Grey, British Foreign Minister, had intimated that the manufacture in Britain of every patent is not unreservedly required under the new Act.
The operation of the Patents' Silti Designs Act passed last session, which was designed to prevent the obstruction of British industrial development bythe abuse of patent rights, is having important results. The Act compels foreigners who control patents, registered in Great Britain to work them in that country, and prevents them imposing onerous conditions on British manufacturers who use the patents. 'lhe new law came into force on January Ist and already foreign firms are establishing factories in Great Britain, which will employ thousands of operatives.
