FIRE BRIGADE MATTERS.

The visit to of Fire-Inspector Hugo was an event of some importance to local firemen, as it afforded them an opportunity of hearing the views of one of the best authorities on fire-fighting methods in the Southern Hemisphere. The Inspector is iot merely a fireman by profession, but by intuition, and his ardour has lifted him to the highest eminence attainable by a fireman in his own sphere in the Dominion. A man with a characteristic appearance and striking personality generally, Inspector Hugo will do splendid service to the brigades of the Dominion, as he is noted for his plain speaking, and there will be no lax administration so far as he personally is concerned, if his past is any guide.
