COLEMAN EXECUTED

Received July 2, i) 30 p.m. ADELAIDE, July 2. Coleman has Deen executed. Death wa3 instantaneous.

The name of the .victim of this murder was Albert Edward Ring, 38 years of age, officer in charge of Glenelg station. James Albert Coleman, known as "Jos" Coleman, a fisherman, aged about 55 years, was the'aayailant. At about 2.45 on March 28th, Coleman was locked up for being drunk a<nd quarrelsome, but at 9 o'clock at night was fined 5s by the magistrate and set at liberty, as he was sober, and anxious to gtt away on a fishing cruise in the cutter Janet. After he obtained his freedom he seemed to have knocked about Glenelg and imbibed more liquor. He also expressed his determination to revenge himself j on the police officer far having locked him up for drunkenness. v Before he met Coleman was ?een walking along the street with a gun in his possession. Before Ring appeared on the scene, two men — Charks H. Rai f jrcl, of Rose street, and J. M'Cafl'rey— spoke to Coleman, who sa|d he was waiting for Ring, to get his'revenge. They advised him to go home. It was while they were still speaking- to him th«t Constable Ring came on the scene. Ring said, "Hullo, Joe! What have you got there?" ;Somo further conversation took place, and just as the Inst train from Adelaide to dlcnelg was returning along the street, Coleman stepped on to the roadway, and Ring said, "Look out for the train." Just then Coleman quickly raised a'single-barrelled muz:;le-loading gun and emptied the full charge into Ring's breast. Ring was seen by the bystanders to stagger and fall ritnd.
