Received July 2, 9.30 p.m. MELBOURNE, July 2. The Governor (Sir R. A. J. Talbot) opened the State Parliament today. His speech foreshadowed no startling legislation.
ADVANCE IN PRICE OF BUTTER. Received July 2, 9.30 p.m. SYDNEY, July 2. Butter has advanced four shilings in price.
SHEEP-BREEDERS' SHOW.
SUCCESSFUL NEW ZEALAND EXHIBITS. Received July 3, 1 am. SYDNEY, July 2. At the Sheep-breeders' Show the New Zealand prize-takers were as follow:—-In Border Leicesters: G. Andrews (Southbridge), champion ewe., four firsts, three seconds and a third; J. Nelson (Killinchy) a first, two seconds and a third. English Leicester: E. Rudduck (Southbridge), champion ewe, a first, two seconds and two thirds; J. Andrews (Ellesmere), a first, two seconds and two thirds- W. Nixon (Killinchy), two thirds.
