FOOTBALL.

The Masterton Association Football Club is putting in some useful practice, and a match is to be played at the Club's ground, Lansdowne, on Thursday between teams representing Manaia and Lansdowne. On Saturday a good practice game was held between two full teams picked from the Club.

Carterton and Dalefield Juniors played a drawn game on Saturday last, at Dalefield, each side scoring 6 points. Martin borough Juniors defeated Greytown Juniors by 11 points to 5.

The Masterton Juniors having forfeited twice in succession, are now counted out of the Wairarapa Rugby Union Junior Competition.

The following is the redrawing of the fixtures for the second round of the Junior Championship:— July 4th—Dalefield v. Greytown, at Dale; eld, Mr J. Nicholls referee; Carterton v. Martinborough, at Carterton, Mr J. Brunton referee; Red Star v. Te Ore Ore, at Masterton, Mr S. Smallwood referee:

The British football team arrived from Wellington this evening, and had a corlial reception from the Rugby Union officials and footballers generally.
