It is anticipated locally (says the Christchurch "Press") that transfers on a large scale of railway servants will be announced shortly before the completion of the Main North Trunk line. A long section of the line has to be and it is possible that tha Knilway Department will experience some difficulty;in securing the services of a sufficient number of railway men to efficiently work the line. There will, no doubt, be a demand for station-masters, but thi" will probably be filled by promotions of officers already in the service. Locally, the opinion is held that the new line will be staffed from Auckland and Wellington railway servants, and that the vacancies there will be filled by transefers from the South Island. In any case, there seems to be a certainty of a fairly general "move round." A good piano is a constant joy. A bad piano is a chronic irritation.
