EMPLOYMENT ON BRITISH SHIPti. A DISTURBING ELEMENT. Received June 26, 9.52 a.m. SYDNEY, June 26.' The Seamen's Union adopted resolutions complimenting Mr Winston Churchill, President of the of Trade, on his recent action against the employment of CbineiC on British ships. The secretary to the union says the encroachment of Lascars and Chinese in the Australian trade is becoming a very disturbing element. Ships engaged in the Pacific trade found a way of signing on in the East and coming here with Chinese crews. He also complained of the competition of Norwegian vessels, with Norwegian crew 3, at lower rates than Australian.
