VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT'S PUSITION.

NO MONEY WANTED FOR FIVE \EARS.

MELBOURNE, June 25. Representatives of friendly societies asked the Government to accept investments of the societies' funds, amounting to one million seven hundred thousand pounds, at 4 per cent. The Premier, Mr Bent, replied that the Government would want no money for the next five years, and then not much. Ho would recommend Cabinet to givo 3J per cent, for the money.
