CONFERENCE OF AUCTIONEERS.
BY TKr.KC4tIAPH—I'UESS ASSOCIATION. WANGANUI, June 24. A meeting of auctioneers was held to-day and was attended by representatives of all the firms doing business in the district. The meeting considered various matters affecting the auctioneers, and resolved: —"That in the opinion of this meeting nolicense should be .issued for less than twelve months; the period to be from the date of issue"; "that in the case of firms taking out licenses for employees or a member of the firm, the license should be issued to the firm, and not to the individual; and that the licensee be empowered to appoint a member of the firm or employee to sell, provided the license is made use of by the one individual only in one day, and that in such cases 110 transfer fee is necessary." It was also resolved that in the event of a universal half-holiday being adopted in any district the Act be amended to allow auctioneers to sell up to 10 p.m; on the preceding evening. It was further decided that any land agent not an auctioneer should pay a licensee fee.
