Mr D. O'Connor, of Greytowrr, who has been on a trip to the 0 Id Country, returned home on Tuesd&y night.
The Rev. H. T. Stealey, late vicar of the Otaki parish, was presented! with a purse of sovereigns at Manakau prior to his departure for theWairarana to take up a position as> principal of the Clareville lege. "
The death occurred on Tuesday mornine of Mr Harry Owen, father of Mr Charles Owen, of Pine Street. The late Mr Owen had only been ailing for a few days. The deceased, was 87 years of age, and was a na-i , tive of Birmingham, England. Hehad been a resident of Masterton for' about two years, having arrived in New Zaaland in 1870. A widow and' three sons are left to mourn their loss. The funeral will leave theresidence of Mr C. Owen, 115 Pine> Street, at 3.30 p.m. to-morrow. At the dairy conference at Paln:.erston, the New " Zealand Dairy Association placed on record its senses; of the gre it loss it had sustained in the death of Mr T. L. Joll. Reference was made to th° invaluahle services the late Mr Joll had rendered to the association far many years as a member of the executive. Not only was he a tower of strength to the association, but to the dairy industry ab. a whole. Tlie resolution, wl ieh was moved by Mr Morton (Taranaki), and" ' seconded by Mr McParlane (Pnhiatua), contained an assurance Mgg | v Joll of the deep sympathy reft tor her in her bereavement. ■ At St Mark's Church, Carterton, I yesterday, Mr Alfred Forbes Pink, • ' fifth son of the late Mr J. G. Pink, of Carterton, was married to Miss. Emma Matilda Johnson, third dau£dl~ ter of Mr A. Johneon, of The bride wore a dress of cream sirk" eolienne, with a transparent yoke,, worked with French knots, and" trimmed with silk embroidery, and' carried a shower bouquet. She wasattended by her two sisters, Misses Mary and Clara Johnson as bridesmaids, who wore dresses of whiteembroidered muslin, trimmed with valenciennes lace, with hats of pink * silk and saohes to match. The bridewas given away by her father, and " Mr A. Teal was man. Theceremony was performed by the Rev.. R. Young, vicar of St. Mark's.
