MASTERTON HOSPITAL.
ANNUAL REPORT.
Following is the annual report of the Trustees of the Masterton Hospital:— The year has been marked by the completion of the new hospital buildThe opening function, at which the Hon. George Fowlds, Minister of Hospitals, was present, was held on Thursday, December 12th, and the patients and staff removed from the old building in Jan uary. The accommodation in the new building is of a very superior nature, the main wards beuig so designed that they can be lighted and ventilated' from "both sides. The design gives excellent hygienic properties, but, unfortunately, does not lend itself to economy. The existing accommodation—for 24 patients only—has already been overtaxed and is likely to prove inadequate in the near future. The members of the St. John Ambulance Corps are to be congratulated on the success of their efforts to provide an up-to-date ambulance service. The new ambulance brougham has given every satisfaction. The thanks of the Trustees are due to the Ladies' Committee in charge of the entertainments on opening day, to the Orchestral Society, and to/the Municipal Brass Band. The local bodies contributing to the funds of the Hospital appointed the following Trustees—viz., Messrs J. fl. Ewington, Wm. Fisher, Walter Harris, M. J. H. Jackson, J. B. Keith, F. W. H. Kummer and J. J. Mead at their annual statutory meeting in December. At the statutory meeting.held in January, the voluntary contributors elected Messrs Richard Brown and H. J. O'Leary, vice Mr A. W. Hogg, M.P., who' declined nomination, and Mr J. A. Renall, who had left the district.
