Fiji (iles report that four earthquakes were felt at Levuka on tiie night of May 28th. The firs\ just before midnight, was the severest of the tremors. On the morning of May 30th there were two more shocks. A slight earlh tremor was felt in Suva also on the morning ,of May 30th. With reference to the Pipe Band contest to be held in Wanganui next January under the auspices of the Caledonian Society, the following bands have'signified their intention of competing, viz., —South Canterbury, North Canterbury, Southland, Wellington and Napier (2)— six in all. This is considered satisfactory at this early date, and several more are expected to enter. This will be the first pipe band contest held in t ie North Islan I. TWO SOVEREIGN REMEDIES.
